RECYCLING FACTS

  • Over 75% of waste is recyclable, but we only recycle about 30% of it. DoSomething.org
  • On average, it costs $30 per ton to recycle trash, $50 to send it to the landfill, and $65 to $75 to incinerate it. Recycling Revolution
  • The United States annually recycles enough copper to provide the copper content of more than 26,000 Statues of Liberty. Metal Recycling Facts, Shupan

When we think of recycling, we often think about the products that fill our curb-side containers for regular pickup. However, there are many other types of waste products that can be recycled for a variety of purposes and products.

  • If you are building a new home or working on a residential remodel such as a new kitchen project, there may be appliances, tiles and other household construction materials that will require disposal. This is why you or your contractor will rent a dumpster.
  • Home clean outs often result in the removal of items that can be recycled such as bicycles, furniture and even lawn mowers, motorcycles and more. Components of all these items can be used to create many new products.
  • Commercial development and renovations typically involve concrete, wood and scrap metals such as copper, brass, aluminum. Other products collected for recycling include steel framing for construction, plastic lumber, roofing materials, wallboard, countertops, flooring, and carpet as well as office equipment and other electronic devices.
  • Residential yard and commercial land waste also creates opportunities for recycled products to be remanufactured and repurposed. For example, the EPA states that about 900,000 trees are cut down annually and that those trees provide the raw materials for paper and pulp mills. Other wood debris becomes mulch. Additionally,  concrete, brick, gravel and crushed boulders become contaminate free clean fill.

Qualified sources claim that recycling reduces energy, air and water pollution and reduces greenhouse gas emission. At the very least it can save money and in even create jobs. Since it can cost more to incinerate a product than to recycle or repurpose it, we think it’s important for us to do our part as your dumpster rental resource.
